We were all humans

We were all humans
Dr. Gilberto Hernández Quirós

Delinquency, hatred, violence and terrorism, among other forms of animosity, destroy our lives, those of others, and the sense of connection that we have with other people around the world.

Our world is amidst another crisis and tragedy as a result of lack of respect towards life.  We have not learned from the mistakes of past generations which subjected the world to the worst of our global existence with genocide, murder, and brutality.

Indeed, we were all humans until "race"desconnected us due to issues of ethnicity with no regard to a reality that there is only one race, the human race.  I ask myself whether a human being would  reject an organ transplant from another, visibly different due to ethnic reasons.  Is it that the organs that human beings have differ according to ethnicity?  Is it that there are "human beings"who are superior than others?

Religion separated us to the point that we are killing one another in the name of religious fundamentalism, dogmatism, orthodoxism and absolute separatism.

Politics divided us in the quest to obtain power and take ownership of "the absolute truth" and employ this power to manipulate, facilitate, construct or destroy.

Wealth classified us according to every individual's power of acquisition regardless of intellect, feelings, values or any other attributes beyond ambition.  Money has taken us to unimaginable dimensions of corruption, violation of human rights and death.

Terrorist attacks and all forms of violence are meant to collapse the foundations of our societies. It is not fair to identify ourselves with some and discriminate against others.  I am not against the Nous Sommes Unis movement of the French people knowing that, in retaliation, the French army bombed Syria with no consideration to the consequences and the carnage of innocent Syrians.  We must comprehend that we are equal and have the same rights regardless of skin color, culture, language or creed.  Let us become humans again!
