TEACHING vs. TRAINING
By Gilberto Hernández
Is there a difference between teaching and training? I personally think there is; however, there are many teachers and educators who do not necessarily think so. I would most certainly like to discuss the above question and enrich this blog with lots of input.
I think training has more to do with preparing a person for carrying out a specific task by means of explaining and then repeating the learned concept, whereas learning involves making the learned concepts "your own" allowing the student to apply them to different situations.
Gilberto Hernández holds a Master's Degree in English Language Teaching (ELT), currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Education with a Specialization in Pedagogical Mediation at Universidad De La Salle, Costa Rica.
